We are a members’ club, with a club committee elected at the annual AGM in May. Membership of the Club is open to all, regardless of age or ability.
Etiquette
- Please treat the clubhouse and courts with respect.
- We expect members to conduct themselves in a courteous and sporting manner with due regard
to the authority of the club officials and the club rules
- Members waiting to play should remain outside the court whilst play is in progress.
- Please do not cross over a court without asking other players first and preferably wait until the
players have reached the end of a game. There are gates available for all the courts. These are
all secured with a passcode padlock and use the same passcode as all other padlocks. Please use
these gates wherever possible to minimise disruption for others.
- If you have booked a court and other people are already using it, then please don’t disturb them
until their time is up. If it is necessary to interrupt, then wait until the end of a point and allow
them the opportunity to complete the game (but not the set) they are playing.
- Switch off and do not use your mobile phone on court.
- The last person leaving the court is responsible for locking the gates and turning out the lights.
Dress Code
- Players should dress in recognised tennis or sporting clothing. Please do not play in a pair of jeans.
- Tennis shoes must be worn by all members on court, including Juniors. Heeled, black soled shoes,
boots or muddy trainers are not permitted as they damage the courts. NO ASTROTURF OR
TRACKED soled trainers can be worn.
- If you bring your child to lessons and they want to play on the sports field before their tennis
lessons, then please bring a change of shoes for them.
Children
- Parents are expected to accept responsibility for the behaviour of, and any damage caused by,
junior members.
- If you bring children to the tennis club whilst your child has a lesson or while you are playing, you
are responsible for their behaviour around the courts. Playground facilities are available on the
recreation ground – the tennis Club is NOT a playground. Children 10 and under should be
supervised at all times.
The Clubhouse, Courts and Grounds
- The clubhouse and courts should be left in a clean and tidy condition. Please remove all bottles,
containers etc. from the courts when you have finished playing, so that the grounds and
clubhouse are left as you found them.
- The Clubhouse is a NO SMOKING area.
- Please leave the kitchen area clean and tidy with cups washed up after use.
- If the Clubhouse is not open, the disabled toilet is accessible from the outside using the key found
in the lock box next to the Clubhouse door. The code for the lockbox is on the PIN code email sent
to all new members when they sign up.
- Please note that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times within the club grounds.
Guests
- No person may be introduced as a playing guest on more than 6 occasions in any year.
- All visitors must be accompanied by a member at all times.
- Members shall be responsible for the conduct of their guests whilst on the Club premises.
